Cape Town - Springbok forwards coach Matt Proudfoot is the latest to be linked to the Cheetahs head coaching position.
Afrikaans newspaper Rapport indicated on Sunday that Proudfoot could be put on the shortlist to replace Franco Smith after his four-year contract with SA Rugby expires after the Rugby World Cup later this year.
The report added that a decision on the scrum guru's future could be made in the coming weeks.
The Cheetahs have already enlisted the help of SA Rugby's director of rugby Rassie Erasmus to assist in finding a replacement for Smith, who is reportedly set to take up the Italian national coaching job.
Deon Davids and Hawies Fourie, who are both still contracted to the Kings and Maties respectively, as well as former NWU-Pukke coach Jonathan Mokuena, have all been linked to the job.
