Faf pokes fun at English club team-mate

Cape Town - Springbok World Cup winner Faf de Klerk has poked fun at his English club team-mate Tom Curry.

The duo were on opposite sides in the Rugby World Cup final earlier this month when the Springboks beat England 32-12 in Yokohama.

But they are back at work in Manchester with the Sale Sharks and upon his return De Klerk wasted no time in rubbing more salt into Curry's wounds.

In an interview with English publication The Times, flanker Curry said he had done his best trying to forget the World Cup final, until De Klerk arrived back at training this week.

When Curry sat down for the team meeting at Sale's training ground in Carrington on Tuesday, he felt something draped on his shoulder.

Upon further inspection, Curry saw it was De Klerk showing off with his World Cup winners' medal.

"I don't think he even said, 'Hi', he just put it there," Curry said.

When asked of his antics, De Klerk quipped: "I just wanted to show my medal to Tom."

The two were involved in an incident during the World Cup final when they grabbed each other's jerseys. Curry responded to the incident, saying: "We just smiled at each other, didn't we?"

De Klerk has been a hit at the English club since he joined them from the Lions in 2017.

A stellar 2018/19 season saw him named as one five nominees for the English Premiership's Players' Player of the Year award.

He currently boasts 30 Test caps for the Boks since making his debut against Ireland at Newlands in 2016.
