Cape Town -The Springbok Sevens team continued their good turn of form by winning their opening two games of the Hamilton Sevens tournament on Saturday.
According to the SuperSport website, the Blitzboks first swept aside Papua New Guinea 36-5 in their opening game, followed by beating Russia 38-0 to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Despite losing captain Phillip Snyman and having a host of injuries, the depth in the squad carried them through the opening games as Seabelo Senatla and Rosco Speckman both scored a brace, and were joined on the scoreboard by Dylan Sage and Zain Davids respectively.
Papua New Guinea's try was scored by Eugene Tokavai.
In the second game, they whitewashed Russia again with the try-scoring twins of Senatla and Speckman both grabbing another brace of tries each.
This time it was Kyle Brown who added his name to the scoresheet before Stormers flank Sikumbuzo Notshe - playing in his debut tournament - got onto the scoresheet just before the final hooter.
There were no surprises in the early play with New Zealand, Fiji, England and Sydney winners Australia all picking up two solid wins at the start of the tournament.
