China down Springbok Women's Sevens side

Cape Town - The Springbok Women's Sevens team has lost their second match at the Sevens World Cup in San Francisco, going down 29-5 to China.

The match, the quarter-finals of the Challenge section, saw China prove far too strong for their South African counterparts who now face Mexico in their next match.

Earlier, Paul Delport's team lost to Russia 24-14 in their round of 16 match.

After going 19-0 behind at half-time, South Africa fought back with tries by Zenay Jordaan and Babalwa Latsha cut the Russian lead to 19-14 with two minutes to play.

Russia, however, scored in the final minute to seal victory.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
