France captain Guirado suffers fractured rib

Toulon - France captain Guilhem Guirado suffered a fractured rib during Les Bleus' final Six Nations match against Italy at the weekend, his Top 14 side Toulon said on Tuesday.

The club did not say exactly how long the 32-year-old would be absent, which could be between three and four weeks.

Guirado was replaced in the 19th minute of France's 24-15 victory in Rome on Saturday.

Toulon sit 10th in the Top 14 table after a poor season so far, and Guirado could still be missing for the clash against league leaders Toulouse in Marseille on April 6.

The injury will not put the hooker's 2019 World Cup campaign in doubt, with the tournament in Japan starting on September 20.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
