Hofmeyr, Elvis in Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika duet?

Cape Town - Seeing will be believing, but controversial South African singer Steve Hofmeyr has offered to sing the national anthem as a duet with former Idols SA winner, Elvis Blue, ahead of a Springbok Test.

On Monday, Sport24 reported that Blue, the Season 6 winner of the popular TV show, had taken to Twitter to plead with SA Rugby to allow him the "greatest honour" of singing Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika, going as far as to say he'd pay his own way to the stadium - anywhere in the world!

After former Springbok great Kobus Wiese responded to the tweet, writing that he hoped SA Rugby were listening, Hofmeyr replied with "Duet? Ek ken "van" die woorde" (Duet? I know "some" of the words").

While it's unclear at this stage who will sing the SA anthem on Saturday ahead of the third and final Test between the Springboks and England at Newlands, Freshlyground lead singer Zolani Mahola was entrusted with the honour before the opening Test at Ellis Park in Johannesburg, while the Tharo Group of Mario Lategan, Thabo Hlongwane and Jacobus Silwer did duty in Bloemfontein for the second Test.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
