All 4 SA Super Rugby squads confirmed

accreditation

Cape Town - All four South African squads for this year's Super Rugby tournament have been confirmed.

The Stormers' late Thursday afternoon announcement of an expanded 47-man squad completed the process with play due to start in eight days' time.

Thanks to a horror sequence of injuries, the Cape side were forced to name as many as 47 players, more than their fellow SA rivals for the title, with the Bulls content to rely on a squad of 38 to - hopefully - return the trophy back to Loftus Versfeld.

Leading SA bookmakers BET.co.za believe the Lions, coming off two consecutive Super Rugby final defeats, once again have the best SA chance of lifting the title and have installed the Johannesburg side as third overall favourites at 11/2.

The Stormers, the last SA Conference winners when the tournament was a 15-team one back in 2015, are next best at 71/4.

The Sharks appear to be tremendous value at 25/1, while the Bulls are on offer at 27/1.

The Stormers will host the Jaguares in the first match of this year's tournament at Newlands on Saturday, February 17 at 15:05, followed shortly thereafter by the only other clash in Week 1, the big Lions v Sharks showdown at Ellis Park at 17:15.

The Bulls have a bye in the opening round, before welcoming the Hurricanes to Pretoria on Saturday, February 24 (17:15).
