Hurricanes lose hooker for 12 weeks

Cape Town - The Hurricanes' front row stocks have been dealt another blow with the news that promising hooker Asafo Aumua will be sidelined for 12 weeks with a wrist injury.

The 20-year-old, who rose to prominence in the 2017 U20 World Cup scoring a hat-trick in the final against England as the Baby Blacks went on to win the title, has suffered a fracture in his wrist.

He will undergo rehabilitation for six weeks after an initial six week resting period.

Aumua joins his idol and favourite player Dane Coles on the sidelines, who is recovering from a knee ligament injury.

That has forced the 'Canes to call up Canterbury's Nathan Vella, as back-up to Ricky Riccitelli and James O'Reilly.
