Jenkins injury boost for Bulls

Pretoria - The Bulls have been given a boost ahead of the 2018 Super Rugby season with the news that lock Jason Jenkins is expected to be fit for next weekend's clash against the Hurricanes at Loftus.

There had been concerns that the 22-year-old second rower would miss the start of the season after injuring his shoulder in this past weekend's 21-12 pre-season win over the Jaguares.

The fear was that he had done damage to his AC joint, but Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw confirmed on Monday that the highly-rated youngster was expected to be ready for the Hurricanes.

"Scans this morning luckily confirmed that it is not as serious," Rossouw said.

"He will most likely be on the sidelines for this week."

There was more good news when Rossouw confirmed that 22-year-old scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl had fully recovered from groin surgery and he would be ready to play in an in-house warm-up match this weekend.
