Lions announce the signing of 6 more players

Cape Town - Following the announcement on Tuesday that six Lions players had extended their stays at the Johannesburg-based franchise, comes the news that another six players have now put pen to paper.

On Tuesday, the Super Rugby runners-up released a statement announcing that captain and No 8 Warren Whiteley, hooker Malcolm Marx, scrumhalf Ross Cronje, wing Aphiwe Dyantyi, flank Cyle Brink and lock Marvin Orie have all penned contract extensions.

That announcement came hot on the heels of the news on Monday that Elton Jantjies (flyhalf) and Lionel Mapoe (centre) had signed one-year contract extensions.

On Wednesday the Lions issued another statement confirming that Courtnall Skosan (wing), Dillon Smit (scrumhalf), Kwagga Smith (flank), Andries Coetzee (fullback), Ruan Combrinck (wing) and Dylan Smith (prop).

No indication of how long the above mentioned players have signed for was provided in the statement.

The Lions recently lost a number of players overseas including flank Jaco Kriel, lock Franco Mostert, centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg and props Ruan Dreyer and Jacques van Rooyen.
