Whiteley out of Stormers match due to kidney stones

Cape Town - Lions captain Warren Whiteley looks set to miss Saturday's Super Rugby encounter against the Stormers in Johannesburg.

According to Netwerk24, the No 8 has received treatment for kidney stones and is unlikely to be included in the Lions line-up for this weekend's South African derby.

The report added that Whiteley was in hospital over the weekend, and while he has since been discharged and was present at the Lions' practice session on Tuesday, the kidney stones have not completely been removed.

For the moment, Whiteley will be given medicine to try and recuperate.

It's been an injury-plagued season for the Springbok loose forward, who has battled with pectoral and knee problems.

The Lions team will be named on Thursday, with Saturday's clash at Ellis Park scheduled for 17:15.
