Luatua puts Bristol ahead of All Blacks

Cape Town - All Blacks flank Steven Luatua says that he would like to extend his time with Bristol, rather than head back to New Zealand and fight for a place in Steve Hansen’s team.

The 26-year-old has impressed for the Ashton Gate-based outfit after surprisingly opting to sign for the Championship club back in February.

Luatua joined the West Countrymen following the completion of the Blues’ Super Rugby season and has helped Pat Lam’s men to the top of England’s second-tier.

"I am just seeing out these two years, seeing what happens with Bristol Rugby," he told BBC Radio Bristol.

"If they will still have me then hopefully I can stick around for a bit longer.

"I will see how my family enjoy it as well because that is a massive part of it, but if that all goes well then hopefully I will be around a bit longer. If not hopefully the Blues will take me back."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
