Montpellier flyhalf Cruden sidelined by calf injury

Montpellier - Montpellier's All Black flyhalf Aaron Cruden will miss a month with a torn calf but is expected to be fit for the start of the European Cup, the French Top 14 club said on Tuesday.

Cruden was injured in Saturday's crushing 55-13 defeat by Lyon on his return to action following two weeks out.

"He hurt himself during the warm-up in Lyon, but he played for an hour. In principle, he will be ready for the start of the European Cup," said Montpellier coach Vern Cotter.

Montpellier meet Edinburgh in their opening game of the competition on October 13.

The 29-year-old has been ruled out of matches against Toulouse, Perpignan and Toulon, although Montpellier could welcome back Fijian winger Nemani Nadolo, Georgian prop Misha Nariashvili and South African centre Jan Serfontein this weekend.
