WATCH: England legend calls rugby a 'pathetic sport'

Cape Town - England veteran James Haskell says rugby is becoming a 'pathetic' sport after his Wasps side was denied a try on Sunday due to a high tackle.

Haskell, who has 77 Test caps to his name, came on as a substitute in his side's Premiership clash against Northampton.

Wasps won the match 36-29, but Haskell was left upset after the final whistle when his team had a late try by John Bassett disallowed.

Haskell was deemed to have made a high tackle in the build up to the try, and the decision did not go down well with the 33-year-old who is leaving the club at the end of the season.

"I'm pretty emotional about that last penalty, I don't know what's happened to rugby," he said after playing his last home match for Wasps.

"It sounds like I'm fading out at the right time because it has becoming a bit of a pathetic sport at the moment I think."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
