Banyana prove their mettle with draw against Sweden

Cape Town - Banyana Banyana and Sweden have played to a 0-0 draw during the Albertina Sisulu Centenary Challenge at the Cape Town Stadium.

As it happened: South Africa v Sweden

In an entertaining match, both sides had chances to break the deadlock but just could not convert their scoring opportunities.

Andile Dlamini in the South African goal produced an outstanding display to thwart Sweden on a number of occasions.

After losing 2-1 to the Netherlands on Saturday, South Africa, runners up at the AFCON tournament to Nigeria last year, have proved that they will be no pushovers at the upcoming Soccer World Cup scheduled in June this year.

Considering that Sweden are ranked 9th in the world at present, Banyana coach Desiree Ellis will no doubt be pleased with the result.
