Cape Town - Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta was complimentary of Jose Mourinho after the former Blues boss replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham manager.
Mourinho, 56, enjoyed two spells as Stamford Bridge boss, winning a couple of Premier League titles during has first stint and another in the 2014-2015 campaign after his return.
Things then went a bit sour in west London and he was gone soon after lifting the trophy, eventually ending up at Manchester United.
Although he guided the Red Devils to EFL Cup and Europa League glory in 2016-17, he was relieved of his duties after seemingly falling out with a number of players and creating a toxic atmosphere.
That has not put off Spurs, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino with the former Real Madrid and Inter chief earlier this week.
His appointment has divided opinion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but Azpilicueta hopes his former boss does well.
"I can only talk when Jose was here at Chelsea with us, we won trophies," he told Sky Sports. “But football moves on and times are different, and I can just wish him all the best, even if he is with a rival. We have good memories with him."
Azpilicueta and his team-mates will face Mourinho on December 22 in north London and will hope to get one over his ex-manager, with Frank Lampard’s side currently 12 points better off than Spurs and in line for a top-four berth.
Punters hoping to use a free bet might fancy Chelsea to inflict more misery on Mourinho’s new club when they clash in the run-up to Christmas.
