Citizens confident of keeping Bayern target Sane

Cape Town - Manchester City are growing increasingly confident of retaining the services of midfielder Leroy Sane, with Bayern Munich seemingly unwilling to meet their £100 million valuation.

The Bavarian giants have conducted a public charm offensive in an effort to convince the City winger to head back home this summer.

Sane's Germany colleagues have also been in his ear, much to the annoyance of his City employers, who want the player to sign a new five-year agreement.

The rapid 23-year-old has kept his own counsel and sources at the Premier League champions have insisted Bayern have yet to make an actual offer.

There is increased fresh optimism from the Citizens, however, that Bayern do not want to reach the magic £100 million figure it will take to persuade them to part with the rapid forward.

Sane has two years remaining on his deal and boss Pep Guardiola revealed at the end of last season the club have been trying to tie their man down for 18 months.

City paid Schalke £38 million for Sane back in 2015 and would rather hold on to him for another year than let Bayern grab him on the cheap.
