Cape Town - Sources report that Gonzalo Higuain left AC Milan on Wednesday morning to head for London where he will complete his Chelsea medical.
After AC Milan reached an agreement over the transfer of Krzysztof Piatek on Tuesday night, it paved the way for Higuain's loan to Chelsea to be completed.
Piatek is also set to have his medical with the Serie club on Wednesday. Milan will pay Genoa £31 million plus bonuses for his services, according to Sky in Italy.
In anticipation of his move to Chelsea, Higuain was left out of Milan's team for their 2-0 Serie A win over Genoa.
Manager Gennaro Gattuso admitted ahead of the match that the striker has told him he wants to move to Chelsea.
Higuain is currently on loan at Milan from Juventus.
Milan and Chelsea have agreed terms on a loan deal until June with an obligation to renew it for another 12 months under certain conditions.
The deal will see Higuain reunite with former manager Maurizio Sarri, who managed him at Napoli when he equalled the Serie A record for goals scored in a season with 36 in 2015/16.
