Maguire wants to play for Guardiola - report

Cape Town - Leicester City defender Harry Maguire will reportedly turn down the advances of Manchester United in the off-season as he wants to join Manchester City.

The Citizens are leading the race to sign the 26-year-old because he wants to play for Pep Guardiola, according to widespread reports.

City and arch-rivals United are both in the hunt for the England international, who is expected to move on this summer, despite Leicester fighting to keep hold.

The Foxes sense they will be able to get a big fee for Maguire if a bidding war kicks off, and reports are claiming that City have edged in front due to the influence of Guardiola.

It is thought the Maguire would rather play for the Spanish tactician ahead of Reds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is still relatively new to the management game and is not held in the same esteem just yet.

The bidding will start in the region of £65 million but the transfer fee could go much higher if neither City or United back down over the next few weeks.
