Man City closing on Juventus defender Cancelo

Cape Town - Manchester City has stepped up their interest in Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo after agreeing a £53 million deal with the Old Lady, according to reports.

Pep Guardiola is looking to bolster his defence in the summer and the versatility of Cancelo makes him a very attractive proposition for the City boss.

The 24-year-old is predominantly a right-back, but he can also play as a right-wing-back and left-back, which would be handy as Benjamin Mendy continues to struggle with injury.

Cancelo only joined the Old Lady from La Liga side Valencia last summer but has impressed in his debut season when making 34 appearances as they have wrapped up another Serie A title.

Manchester United have also been heavily linked, but it would appear that the blue half of the city is set to win the day on this one, with reports claiming a deal has been agreed.

Cancelo will miss Juve's final game of the season against Sampdoria on Sunday after undergoing surgery on his nose, so could have played his last game for the Bianconeri.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
