Maradona says Jose is better than Pep as manager

Cape Town - Argentina legend Diego Maradona believes Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a better manager than Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola.

Maradona, who now coaches Mexican second-tier side Dorados, believes that Guardiola's ability to sign some of the world's best players gives him the advantage in terms of the passing style of play he demands.

The 58-year-old takes this view despite City flying high in the league and in spite of the reigning English Premier League champions beating United 3-1 in the Manchester derby last Sunday.

Speaking to Marca, he said: "For me yes, Mou is the best. I would give Pep the merit of taking advantage of the launch that Johan Cruyff gave him.

"I have said on more than one occasion that tiki-taka was not invented by Guardiola. It was 'Flaco' Cruyff. At the moment Pep is able to choose any player in the world that he wants. That way tiki-taka is easier."

The former La Albiceleste superstar added he wanted to visit with the Portuguese in future in order to gain experience in the coaching profession.

The 1986 World Cup winner concluded: "Myself as a coach I need to learn a lot and for that reason I think I will go to Manchester and Mourinho to ask him a lot of things. Because he is the best without doubt."
