PIC | Pochettino leaves farewell message to Spurs players

Cape Town - Former manager Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff left a farewell message to the Tottenham Hotspur playing squad after being sacked by the club on Tuesday.

Pochettino was sacked following a miserable start to the campaign that has seen last season's Champions League finalists slide down the Premier League table.

Tottenham sit 14th in England's top flight after picking up just three wins from their opening 12 games, and were eliminated from the League Cup in September by fourth-tier Colchester United.

Jose Mourinho was brought in an a replacement shortly after and promised "real passion" following his appointment as Tottenham Hotspur boss on Wednesday.

Assistant coach Jesus Perez tweeted a picture showing Pochettino leaving a farewell message to his playing saying, "big thanks to you all! We can't say goodbye... you will always be in our hearts."

Spurs next travel to London Stadium where they will face cross-town rivals West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 14:30.
