Pochettino wants Jota as Spurs set for spending spree

Cape Town - Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be weighing up a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Diogo Jota as part of a bumper spending spree in the close season.

Spurs did not sign a single player in the last two transfer windows, but that is about to change, with reports claiming chairman Daniel Levy will loosen the purse strings in the summer.

With Tottenham's title challenge faltering badly, and with Manchester United still said to be considering a move for boss Mauricio Pochettino, Levy knows investment is needed.

Spurs will look to strengthen all areas of the side, but up front is a position that needs more quality as they continue to rely heavily upon Harry Kane.

Pochettino has so far been unable to sign suitable cover, but hopes by landing Wolves ace Jota, that particular problem will be solved.

The Portuguese ace has been a revelation for Wolves this season, scoring seven goals in his last 14 games, and at just 22-years-old is seen as a star of the future.

Wolves, however, are under no pressure to sell and would demand big money, so it remains to be seen if Spurs will be able to pay enough to do a deal.
