Sanchez admits to struggling at United

Cape Town - Forward Alexis Sanchez has said things have not gone as expected since his January move to Manchester United.

The Chilean star made the move from the Emirates at the turn of the year, but has struggled since, netting just one goal in 10 appearances.

Speaking before Chile’s friendly with Sweden this Saturday, the 29-year-old admitted that he has found it hard in Manchester after four years at Arsenal.

"As I am self-demanding, I expected something better," Sanchez told Chilean media in Sweden. "After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly. I even hesitated to come here (to Sweden).

"The change of club was something that was very abrupt - it was the first time I've changed clubs in January - but many things have happened in my life that are difficult."

Chile will not be going to Russia for the World Cup this summer after they failed to qualify, and Sanchez said that he initially wanted to skip the Sweden game, but he changed his mind after talking to Chile captain and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

"I had asked permission to miss these games, but then I thought better and spoke with Claudio and told him that we should all be united," he said.
