Sancho had 'no intention' of joining United - Zorc

Cape Town - Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has claimed that winger Jadon Sancho was not interested in making a move to Manchester United in the off-season.

The 19-year-old was on the radar of United following an outstanding first season in the Bundesliga when he fired home 12 goals and provided a further 14 assists in 34 appearances.

However, despite pushing for a deal, United could not get one over the line, and Sancho ended up staying where he is.

But that was as much down to the player as it was Dortmund, as neither party wanted the move according to Zorc.

"A hot topic right now is Sancho and Manchester United," Zorc said in the Amazon Prime documentary 'Inside Borussia Dortmund'.

"Both his discussions with the club and mine with the consultants. A meeting did take place. Manchester United invited the consultant.

"But, according to what I know, the consultant told the club that no matter how much money they offer, we won't let him go this summer. But the player also has no intention of taking that step this summer."

The interest from United and other clubs will not go away though as Sancho has hit the ground running in this campaign as well.

He has already fired home two goals in three appearances for BVB and his stock has risen further after he scored two goals for England in their 5-3 win over Kosovo on Tuesday night.

Sancho will be up against Barcelona in the Champions League next week when he gets another chance to show just how good he is.
