Swansea offer Terry a Premier League encore

Cape Town - Swansea City manager Paul Clement says that he would want to work with outgoing Chelsea captain John Terry if they survive relegation.

After 22 years at Stamford Bridge the 36-year-old is looking for a new club after announcing that he will not be staying on, and Clement is eager to lure him to Wales.

"I would like to say, having worked with him, what a fantastic player he is and what a career he has had," Clement said ahead of Saturday’s match against Stoke City.

"He is a great talent and one of a dying breed of leaders. He has represented that club so well. Players are too quick to move on from club to club now but congratulations to him.

"If we stay up why wouldn't we be interested? I know him well and would be more than happy to speak to him."

That happens to  be a big "if" for the Swans as they currently find themselves in the Premier League drop zone with just five games left to play,  having picked up just a single point in their last six league matches.

"I hope the players respond, they have not responded well over the last six games when pressure has been there but we have to perform to alleviate it," Clement added. "Otherwise the last few games will be for nothing."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
