Cape Town - Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette says the Premier League has not seen his best and is aiming to show more consistency while improving his goal-scoring output.
France international Lacazette arrived at the Emirates in July 2017 from Lyon for a then club-record fee of £46.5 million and supporters were expecting big things from the new arrival, who had scored 76 Ligue 1 goals over the last three seasons prior to his arrival in England.
The 28-year-old forward netted 14 goals during his debut Premier League campaign before scoring one less in the 2018/19 season as the Gunners finished fifth, just missing out on a place in the Champions League.
Lacazette has yet to break that magical 20-goal mark in England's top flight and that responsibility has fallen to Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who broke the club's transfer record when joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for £56 million.
Since the Premier League's inception back in 1992, only six Arsenal players have scored 20-plus goals, these being Ian Wright, Thierry Henry, Emmanuel Adebayor, Alexis Sanchez, Robin van Persie and Aubameyang.
Lacazette got off the mark in Saturday's 2-1 home win over Burnley and Unai Emery's men have taken the maximum points on offer, having defeated Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park on the opening weekend.
Ahead of Saturday's trip to Liverpool, who are the only other team to have a 100% record in the top flight this season, the Arsenal star insists there is much more to come from him.
He told Canal Plus: "The Premier League has not yet seen the best Lacazette. It has seen some very good, but not the best. I can score more goals and be more consistent."
Arsenal will be looking to win their first three games of a Premier League season this weekend for the first time since the start of the 2004/05 campaign, when they defeated Everton, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers.
However, the Gunners have not beaten Liverpool in the last eight outings - losing four and drawing four - and they lost the last encounter 5-1 despite taking the lead 11 minutes into the game.
Club-record signing Nicolas Pepe is pushing for a start, having looked lively when coming on as a sub in the first two matches, while fellow summer arrival Dani Ceballos is expected to retain his place in the XI.
German midfielder Mesut Ozil could also be involved after missing out on the matchday squad for the Burnley clash due to a lack of fitness, while Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be reinstalled to the starting side.
