Cape Town - This is arguably the biggest date in the South African sports calendar. The Woza Nazo campaign brings you the not-to-be-missed Soweto Derby this Saturday, March 3. South Africa will come to a 'standstill' for 90 minutes when arch-rivals Orlando Pirates host Kaizer Chiefs at the iconic FNB Stadium.
Kick-off is at 15:30.
The tongues are wagging and the debates have already started – claims and counter claims are the order of the day. The tussles between the two Soweto giants started way back in 1970 and continue to be the highlight of the South African football season.
The date is set and it is all systems go for Saturday.
In the first round, on October 21, an entertaining and fierce battle ended in a goalless stalemate. Pundits raved that, despite the lack of goals, the encounter was certainly worth the money spent by the fans.
The current log positions point to what promises to be another mouth-watering derby. A point separates the two teams – Amakhosi are 3rd and have 35 points to the Buccaneers' 36 points who are 2nd after 22 games played. Both teams are chasing Absa Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are in pole position with 40 points from the same number of matches.
