Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane conceded that his former players did a number on him in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup on Saturday.

The Brazilians were beaten 4-2 by Ernst Middendorp's Kaizer Chiefs outfit at FNB Stadium, with Leonardo Castro bagging a hat-trick in the first half before Khama Billiat capped off the victory with a fourth goal later on.

Both Castro and Billiat were star players for Mosimane during their time at the Chloorkop outfit, and the Sundowns coach admits they showed their quality yet again - only this time he was at the receiving end.

"They were clinical in the first half and they did the job in the first half because in football you must take the chances you get. You can't wait for the next half because you don't know what will happen," Mosimane told the press.

"We lost to a good team, a very strong team, a powerful team, hard-running. The CB (Castro and Billiat) was on fire. They reminded me of the days they were with me. They came back to bite me, the boys.

"It's good to see them play like this because that's what they are. They played well."

"Nobody scores four goals against Mamelodi Sundowns. I don't know if I have lost by four before, I don't remember," he added.

"But it's okay, it happens to Pep (Guardiola), it happens to (Jose) Mourinho, it happens to Alex Ferguson and so who am I?

"I think Ernst (Middendorp) got four goals from me before. I remember giving him four. So, these things do happen. It's okay, its' part of the game, it's football. We are okay. We're checking the depth; we're doing housekeeping issues.

"But they [Chiefs] were strong, they prepared well. They did a good pre-season, no top eight, no nothing, no Champions League, none of these things of going to flights."
