Cape Town - Cape Town City chairperson John Comitis reckons his club is a lot wiser and raring to go ahead of the new season.
The Cape Town based outfit is preparing for its third Absa Premiership season since the club was established in 2016 and Comitis said he is happy with the progress that the club has made.
City bagged the Telkom Knockout Cup in its first year of existence, but lost the MTN8 title in the final to SuperSport United last season.
Comitis stated that he expects his club to once again challenge for honours as Benni McCarthy prepares for his second season in charge of the Citizens.
The Citizens have also reinforced their squad with the likes of Riyaad Norodien, Gift Links and also on Wednesday announced the arrival of Siphelele Mthembu from Free State Stars.
Comitis told Metro FM: "I think we are just raring to go. It's the new season; it's our third season.
"I told the guys that the honeymoon is over, that was our first season.
"The bumpy ride is over. The one that everybody expected us to collapse and fail. Now we are a lot wiser, we have seen what we are up against and this year there will be no excuses.
"For me from the onset we are looking for silverware. The attitude is right, the work ethic is great and Benni has come back full of energy.
"Patosi (Ayanda) is like a new player, he is like a new signing to be honest. The way he has come back, his attitude is fantastic and I think we may surprise a few people."
