Cape Town - Cape Town City romped to their biggest ever win in the Absa Premiership with a dominant 5-0 victory against Free State Stars at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.
A brace each from Roland Putsche and Gift Links, as well as a strike from Siphelele Mthembu, secured all three points for Benni McCarthy’s side.
The Citizens now move to fourth place in the standings, after a shaky start to their 2018/2019 campaign.
Ea Lla Koto meanwhile, remain in 13th place, just four points above the relegation zone.
Putsche gave the home side the lead with a clinical header from a corner kick as the teams headed for the break with City holding a 1-0 advantage.
The midfielder doubled the lead early in the second half from the penalty spot after right-back Thamsanqa Mkhize was fouled in the 18-yard area.
Links made it 3-0 before striker Siphelele Mthembu got his name on the score-sheet to give City a comfortable 4-0 lead in the 71st minute.
Links then completed his brace to make it a 5-0 route and hand the home side their biggest ever winning margin.
