Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Hendrick Ekstein recently returned to Naturena to collect final documents related to his release last season.
Ekstein was spotted at the club's training ground this week and it led to some speculation that Chiefs and the player may have done and about-turn in agreeing a new deal.
In 2015 Glamour Boys boss Kaizer Motaung announced that Itumeleng Khune would be leaving after a dispute over a new deal, yet he later did sign a contract on the dotted line.
Nonetheless, Ekstein's presence at the home of Amakhosi was simply administrative as he collected further documents related to his official release.
A source told Soccer Laduma: "He (Ekstein) was at the village to see one of the club's officials.
"He was there to have one of the documents signed as he is working on getting a new club.
"It's documents confirming that the player was a Chiefs player and that he is no longer with the club.
"Everything went well, and the player's focus now is on getting a new club."
The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Cape Town City and reportedly has some offers from abroad as well.
