Hunt: We should've won this league
Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes his team should have been crowned Absa Premiership champions but they let themselves down in the last third of the season.
The Clever Boys started the campaign like a house on fire and were leading the table after the halfway stage, only to fall away and eventually finish third behind PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
Hunt said in quotes published on KickOff: "Disappointed, very disappointed because we know we should've won this league, we were top of the log for more than three quarters.
"We threw it away, we didn't have good defensive performances in key moments.
"In the first round we had 30 points and I told the guys if we can get another 30 in the second round and reach 60 we can be champions.
"That was proven right... we should be champions."
Hunt, who is one of the most experienced coaches in South African football and has also won the PSL title four times, also feels the unresolved case between Sundowns and the PSL should never be happening in modern football.
"There are still court cases, we don't really know what's going to happen, it's mind blowing," Hunt fumed.
"Team lifts a trophy today and it could be taken away. We should never have such, this issue should've been resolved before the last games."
