Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo feels his side is starting to play to the best of their ability after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates.
Matsatsantsa claimed all three points thanks to Clayton Daniels' second-half goal, but it would have been a different result had Pirates managed to convert from the penalty spot.
However, Happy Jele's spot kick was kept out by goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and Justin Shonga failed to hit the target after pouncing on the rebound.
Reflecting on what was a hard-fought victory, Tembo told SuperSport TV: "It was a difficult game but I think we should have wrapped it up in the first half.
"We created clear-cut chances, probably the final ball and decision-making [was the problem].
"But at the same time I have to give it to the guys. This is the SuperSport I know. This is the SuperSport that started the season and we had lost it a little bit.
"We fight, we're difficult to beat when we play this way. I'm happy we're getting that back.
"We spent the whole week working on that. We knew that their full-backs were going to go forward and that first ball out of the pressure had be out but at times we overran the ball. That final ball took long to go diagonal and it allowed their full backs some time to recover.
"We had a few breaks with Aubrey [Modiba] and Evans [Rusike] and we couldn't just capitalise. But Wayne [Sandilands] did well, he pulled two saves on the line, and that showed the amount of pressure we were putting them."
SuperSport United will set their attentions towards the upcoming clash with Baroka FC, and Tembo says he will urge his players to stay grounded and take each game as it comes.
He continued: "We will keep on fighting, we are taking it one game at a time. Now we can focus on Baroka, try to calm down the guys a little bit because there's still a long way.
"We really need to focus on our game, recuperate and make sure we're ready for Saturday."
