Komphela: Arrows need two more wins for safety

Cape Town - Golden Arrows head coach Steve Komphela has revealed that his next target is to win two more games in order to secure the club's Absa Premiership status.

Abafana Bes'thende are eighth in the league standings with 24 points from 18 games and have a seven-point cushion between them and the dreaded relegation zone.

Although there is no immediate danger of being dragged down into the scrap for survival, Komphela is eager to win two more league games as soon as possible.

"All that we were chasing [against Polokwane] was to make 26 [points] and then you get four, you are out of the mess [referring to relegation] and then you start working towards 40 for the top-eight," said Komphela, as quoted by SowetanLive.

"We are on 24, we still need two matches to win, then we are guaranteed safety."

The Lamontville outfit will have a real challenge if they intend to claim those wins in their next two matches as they will host table-toppers Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday and third-placed SuperSport the week thereafter.

Kick-off is at 15:30.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
