Komphela, Khune pleased with Paez signing

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela and captain Itumeleng Khune are pleased with the signing of Venezuelan striker Gustavo Paez.

Paez signed a two-and-half year deal after he impressed Komphela and his technical team over the past few weeks.

He arrives from Sociedad Civil Estudiantes De Merida FC on a free transfer.

Khune admitted he is very impressed of what he has seen from Paez at the club.

"Gutavo is mobile and he is quick and he has been scoring in the friendlies we played," Khune told the club's official website.

"He will bring another dimension to the team."

Paez, 26, was presented with his Gold and Black jersey by Komphela with the number 28 at the back.

"Gutavo is not the solution to our goal scoring problems," Komphela warned.

"He will help solve our lack of finishing. Let's hope he will not be too much pressured and that he gets time to settle."

Paez says he is delighted to become a Glamour Boy: "It is undoubtedly a wonderful opportunity to join the Kaizer Chiefs Family.

"It's my goal to become an important player for the Club and contribute to winning trophies."

Komphela's men are one point off league-leaders SuperSport and play their first match against Free State Stars on Tuesday, February 7.
