Cape Town - Fagrie Lakay is
heading back to SuperSport United following the end of his loan spell
with National First Division-bound Ajax Cape Town.
The Santos academy product spent six months on loan with the Urban Warriors, scoring three goals in a bright spell ahead of the club's unfortunate relegation from the Absa Premiership this season.
It was a welcome return to regular football for the Bafana Bafana international who struggled for game time under Eric Tinkler at Matsatsantsa.
But with Kaitano Tembo currently in care-taker charge, and with a shout at being named head coach for 2018/19, Lakay returns to a club in transition.
SuperSport ended seventh in the standings last term having flirted with relegation prior to Tinkler's exit.
Speaking to KickOff, 22-year-old Lakay said: "It was a good experience as a player to play in front of my people of Cape Town.
"It was also a good career move you know, as I got valuable game-time and that was the main idea.
"Ajax is a fantastic club with world class facilities and ideal for any player’s career.
"I had great support from the coach [Muhsin Ertugral], personnel and the staff. They are very friendly people and I will miss them all.
"I also need to thank Ajax’s passionate crowd as they have shown great support to the club through thick and thin."
