Lions of the North choose not to sign ex-Pirates midfielder

Cape Town - Highlands Park have deemed former Orlando Pirates midfielder Sifiso Myeni, who was on trial at the club for the past two weeks, as surplus to requirements.

Myeni was contracted to Bidvest Wits last season before being released as a free agent and was hoping to revitalise his career with the Lions of the North, but assistant coach Allan Freeze has confirmed they will not be signing the 31-year-old.

"He is a good player but unfortunately we have players playing in the same position," said Freeze.

At their end-of-season awards function on Tuesday night, Highlands showed new signings Thela Ngobeni, Limbikane Mzava and Rodney Ramagalela off to the media.
