Makaab: Ngcongca staying at Sundowns

Cape Town - Mike Makaab of ProSport International has revealed that his client, Anele Ngcongca, is set to remain at Mamelodi Sundowns despite having been linked with a move to Cercle Brugge.

According to Ngcongca's agent, the move fell through due to coach Frank Vercauteren's departure from the Belgian club.

The right-back had previously played under the 61-year-old at Genk.

"The coach that we were engaging with is no longer there," Makaab said, according to IOL website.

"Anele is staying with Sundowns. He has a lot to prove. He has sustained injuries.

"At least now he is going to have good pre-season. He is fit and playing very well."

The news will be music to the ears of supporters of Masandawana, who signed Ngcongca from Genk in 2016.

The 30-year-old made 14 appearances in their triumphant 2017/18 league campaign.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
