Motupa loving life despite failed Sundowns move

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits striker Gift Motupa doesn't expect his failed move to Mamelodi Sundowns to impact his career and performances negatively.

Motupa seemed destined to join the reigning Absa Premiership champions during the January transfer window, but the transfer wasn't completed before the window slammed shut.

Nevertheless, the forward has continued with the form which saw him being linked with Sundowns in the first place and scored a crucial goal for the Clever Boys during a Nedbank Cup win over his former side, Orlando Pirates.

"Even though the move to Sundowns didn't happen, I have still shown that I can still perform well for the club," Motupa said, as per SowetanLIVE.

"So far my focus is on Bidvest Wits and nothing else. I don't want to comment about that as the club has asked me not to say anything."

Motupa joined Wits from Chippa United two years ago and have scored 22 goals for his new club in that time, form which he believes puts them in the reckoning for the Nedbank Cup and league titles.

He missed their last three matches with an ankle injury but should return to the squad at some point in the next month.

"We believe we can still compete for the league and we always motivate each other in camp, we just need to be consistent and work more hard," Motupa continued.

"It has not been easy because we don't have time to rest, we play after every three days. So, it was not easy for us, that's why sometimes we were not at our best.

"The technical team is doing well to manage us. We are looking forward to competing in both the cup competition and the league."
