Nascimento set for Sundowns return

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane has confirmed defender Ricardo Nascimento will make his return to the side when they take on Petro de Luanda in Angola in a CAF Champions League game.

Nascimento spent the start of the season in his homeland, Brazil, struggling with a long-term injury, and returned to South Africa late last year.

He was on the bench for Sundowns' recent games against Orlando Pirates and SuperSport Unite but will return to the starting XI this weekend.

"I wanted to give him a run (against SuperSport United) so that he can play but unfortunately I didn't have a chance. Even when we played USM (Alger) he didn't have a chance," Mosimane told the media.

"But I have to introduce him, he is very important. I have to make a plan and find out where I am going to play him because (Motjeka) Madisha and (Mosa) Lebusa are doing well.

"I had a talk with him. I think he will play in Luanda. I don't know if he will last 90 minutes, but he will play."

Sundowns have already qualified for the knock-out stage of the Champions League and will advance as group winners with a positive result in Angola on Saturday.

Their final group stage match is against Wydad Casablanca at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, February 1.
