Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs forward Bernard Parker believes the club can achieve great success should they be ruthless in front of goal and kill off opponents.
Chiefs produced a good attacking display against Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend, however, were guilty of missing some golden opportunities in a 2-1 defeat.
Parker in particular missed two sitters as he headed wide two great crosses when anything on target might have been a goal.
The Glamour Boys were undone in the Premiership contest when a howler from goalkeeper Virgil Vries handed the winning goal to Lebohang Maboe.
Nonetheless, ahead of Wednesday's clash with league leaders Bidvest Wits, Parker takes the view that being more clinical can prove to be the difference in the future.
He said: "If we keep creating chances the goals will follow. We must just keep doing what we did against Sundowns and not take the foot off the pedal.
"We take a lot of positives out of Saturday's match. We attacked and defended with confidence. We were only not ruthless enough in the sense of killing it. That was a big lesson.
"It was a great performance from all the players, from those who started and those who came on. There was also a fantastic performance from the supporters, who kept cheering us on for the duration of the game."
The 32-year-old added that the Clever Boys are a tough opponent, concluding: "Wits are a strong opponent, who are very physical and like to pump balls into the box from diagonal crosses and long-balls. It is a six-pointer for us, because it's an opportunity to close the gap.
"We have improved a lot since Ernst Middendorp took over as the coach. It's now for us to improve even more. If that happens, we will be a tough team to beat."
Chiefs are eighth in the standings with a 12 point deficit behind Wits. It appears anything but a victory for Amakhosi could all but put an end to any hopes of a title challenge in 2018/19.
