Pitso: Maybe Sundowns will be bored

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says the club welcomes the extended off-season break though returning to training could be a challenge.

Sundowns have not had experienced off-season break for a good few years due to commitments in the CAF Champions League.

However, the format of the competition changed in 2018/19 with games and qualifiers being played through the regular season instead.

As such, the Brazilians players have time to rest and recuperate yet Mosimane takes the view that having regular training sessions during pre-season will be unusual as the side are so used to playing matches non-stop.

He told reporters: "I have never had this before. The players are going to have six weeks off, with the exception of Bafana players (who are going to the AFCON).

"Maybe we will be bored because we are not used to training.

"I could have time to bring the people that I want to bring like a striker. It also gives me enough time in training to see what we have.

"The younger players didn't have a chance to play because it was win at all cost. But now they will get to train and it will help us and them to improve as well."
