Scottish Premier League side detail why Moon failed to win move

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Ryan Moon did not earn a deal with Hibernian in Scotland's Premier League because he didn't improve the quality of the attack.

Moon recently had a trial stint with Hibs but did not do enough to secure a contract despite scoring in a friendly match.

Coach Paul Heckingbottom told deadlinenews.co.uk that the 22-year-old did not offer more than what he already had upfront in the ranks.

He told the publication: "We saw enough of Ryan on video in terms of his attributes. Athletic, good in the air and a really good lad. We wanted to give him an opportunity.

"But when we have the competition already in the building there's no point bringing in someone as a backup or who won't improve the 11.

"In the forward areas we have Fraser [Murray], Boyler [Martin Boyle], Daryl [Horgan], Joe [Newell], Scott [Allan], Oli [Shaw], Flo [Kamberi] and Christian [Doidge]. That's eight good players."

It appears Moon could return to South Africa where a move to Maritzburg United may be on the cards, though he would have to agree greatly reduced financial terms as revealed by Team of Choice chairperson Farook Kadodia.
