Sekotlong up for the mental challenge at Sundowns

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thokozani Sekotlong says he is mentally strong enough to take any opportunity he's given despite being on the fringes at Chloorkop.

The 27-year-old has yet to feature in a single matchday squad domestically in both the league and cup competitions and featured for just 44 minutes in a CAF Champions League defeat to Togo Port on July 17.

Sekotlong also was used sparingly last season and it appears he is well down the pecking order at the 2016 African champions.

Nonetheless, he did play in Downs' 2-1 win over AmaZulu during the international break, before suffering an ankle injury in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup clash.

Speaking to KickOff website, Sekotlong said: “Obviously I would like to have played longer but this is part of the game, but I don't think it is a bad injury. I'll be out for now. It's swelling but I don't think I'll be out for long.

“You need to wait for your chances and when you get that chance that's when you are ready and motivated to actually get that goal.

“To play at Sundowns, that is what you plan to do, to take it. At Sundowns it is more a mental thing. When you are at a big team like this you have got to be mentally ready because there's a lot of pressure."
