Cape Town - Veteran Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala says it's up to the players to take responsibility for turning the season around.
Amakhosi are in third place on the Absa Premiership standings and only three points off the summit.
But by their own high standards they have not been firing on all cylinders in the league and Saturday's 1-0 win over Platinum Stars was their first victory in six outings.
It was Tshabalala who proved the difference in the match in Rustenburg after he came off the bench to net a superb headed winner.
And while it's often the coach who feels the heat when results are not going a team's way, 'Shabba' says the players need to take matters into their own hands and deliver on the field.
"When things are not going well we have to be professional and take responsibility‚ knowing that us as players can provide the answer‚" said the 33-year-old.
"We spoke about it and said 'just keep going'. This is the only Chiefs‚ we need to keep going and get the results. It was key to get maximum points.
"We had targeted nine points from the last three games of the year but we suffered a setback against Chippa and this was another opportunity for us to get the points and I'm happy we got them," he added.
The Soweto giants end 2017 with a league clash against Ajax Cape Town in Durban this Saturday.
"Now there is one to go," said Tshabalala. "Now it is to focus again and take (out) the positives and make sure we end 20217 on a high."
