Heading into it, Chiefs were struggling for form, having failed to pick up a victory in five league matches and been knocked out of the MTN8 semi-finals by SuperSport United.
However, they looked a different side upon their return to action on Saturday, sweeping past City thanks to a Khama Billiat brace and goals from Siyabonga Ngezana and Philani Zulu.
"The best of Kaizer Chiefs is still to come," said Solinas, according to his club's official website. "We used the FIFA international break to fix a lot of areas. The boys worked hard to prepare for this match."
Reiterating his gratitude for the Chiefs supporters who turned out in numbers, Solinas said: "From the bench to the field of play, the spirit was great.
"The supporters played a big part in this victory and we thank them for all the encouragement. I also wish to thank my players for the good result and the excellent performance."
Amakhosi will continue their Absa Premiership campaign against Free State Stars at Goble Park on Tuesday.
Kick-off set for 19:30.
