Cape Town – Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has confirmed that striker Iqraam Rayners has signed a pre-contract with Absa Premiership giants SuperSport United.
According to KickOff, Barker reveals that the striker will remain with the Cape side until the end of the campaign as Stellenbosch seek to avoid relegation.
"He helped us get promoted, and he's doing a great job for us now. He's been very good for our club. He knows that we wish him well going forward, and yes, it is what it is," said Barker.
"He is still here, he is still playing for us, he will honour his contract until the end of the season. We are happy that he is committed to the club till the end of the season and its part of football, people move on.
"It creates an opportunity for other players to come in and we know he's been very good for us, top goal scorer last year. This year he's adding value in scoring goals and assists.
"But you know sometimes you can't always compete with the other clubs, and we're not going to be a club that will stay in a player's way. We wish him the best, and hopefully, he's got a good career going forward.
"We look forward to him contributing till the end of the season. His contract is coming to an end in June, yes."
