Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City will return to the bread and butter of the Absa Premiership on Tuesday after both sides were involved in cup action over the weekend.
Sundowns went through to the next round of the MTN 8 on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic.
City though were knocked out of the same competition as they lost 2-0 at home to Polokwane City.
While the defending league champions will be favourites for the PSL encounter, it should be noted that the Citizens have four wins in the last six encounters between the sides.
Last season saw two tightly contest affairs as Masandawana ran out 3-2 winners at home while the Citizens trumped 2-1 in Cape Town.
Coach Benni McCarthy will need to lift his City side after the weekend disappointment but motivation should not be needed when tackling the Tshwane outfit.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane will look to build on their weekend victory in the cup clash as their last league game was a 1-1 draw against Chippa United.
