Usuthu apologise for KZN derby post-match scenes

Cape Town - AmaZulu have apologised for the nasty scenes that ensued after the KwaZulu-Natal derby on Friday evening involving their club members and the referee.

Referee Tshidiso Maruping had a shocker with the whistle, denying AmaZulu what appeared to be two clear-cut penalties in the 1-0 loss to Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium

At the final whistle, Usuthu players and backroom staff members surrounded the referee, something which could result in disciplinary action from the PSL.

And the club perhaps fearing the wrath of the PSL disciplinary committee, have unreservedly apologised for the 'regrettable' incident.

"The events that took place after the match are regrettable. We apologise to the sponsors, partners, supporters and the general public," said general manager Lunga Sokhela.

Usuthu coach Jozef Vukusic would not be drawn on the matter as he did not want to get himself in to trouble by criticising the match officials.
